Zenbu is Japanese for "everything," and that's the idea behind Zenbu. Zenbu is open to any and all Sangha members, their relatives, and any other Dharma friends who'd like to get together for occasional fun, educational, cultural or recreational events. All ages are welcome.
A variety of periodic mixers and casual events allows Sangha members and friends to get to know one another better while offering welcome and fellowship to new and potential Temple members. Participation is strictly voluntary.
The group is event-driven with interested participants alternating the responsibility of coordinating each event, so we don't collect dues or have membership meetings! Zenbu will fluctuate in make-up and size from event to event depending on interest. A few activities may require you pay your own way (movie, museum visit, lunch, etc.), or contribute to the cost of a group lesson, supplies, etc.
An example of a Zenbu event might be one announced for a Sunday following the morning service. Organizers will post the activity at the Temple and on the web site, and contact everyone on the Zenbu contact list. If the event sounds appealing to you--it might be a picnic, a meditation class, the latest Star Trek movie, a few lines of bowling-just meet at the designated spot and enjoy the event with other Zenbu. If you are busy that day or the activity suggested is not your cup of tea, watch for future event more to your liking.
Upcoming ZENBU events will be- ツキ announced at Family Services ツキ posted on the downstairs bulletin board ツキ listed in the Bussei Script (BTSD's monthly newsletter) ツキ announced on the BTSD web site.
If the Temple currently has your e-mail address, you will be automatically included on the ZENBU CONTACT LIST. If you are not already receiving occasional notices from the Temple and you would like to be notified of upcoming ZENBU activities, you can
ツキ send your contact information to zenbu@cox.net; or ツキ call the Temple and leave your name, phone number and/or e-mail address; or ツキ leave your contact information on the clipboard in the office.
We respect your privacy. Your contact information will only be used to notify you of upcoming BTSD events.
Although an effort will be made to make these events suitable for all ages, it should be understood that not every ZENBU activity may appeal to or be appropriate for every person. The idea is to join in when it sounds fun to you, and pass when it doesn't.
If you have questions or comments about ZENBU or would like to suggest or organize an interesting activity, please send e-mail to zenbu@cox.net or call the Temple at 619/239- 0896 and leave a message for Joyce Teague.
